How It Works

The P.C.I. Water-to-Air Reversing System

The P.C.I. Unit utilizes the same basic principle as any refrigeration appliance you have in your home - refrigerator, freezer, air conditioner, etc. It transfers heat from a low-temperature media to a high-temperature media

Refrigerant is circulated throughout the sealed system where it is compressed into a hot gas, condensed into a cool liquid, and evaporated into a cold gas.

In the same way that a refrigerator removes heat from the food and air inside, and rejects it to the surrounding air, the P.C.I. unit extracts heat from a liquid source and rejects it to the air used to warm your home in the winter.

In the summer, the cycle is automatically reversed. The P.C.I. unit removes heat and moisture from the air inside your home or workplace and rejects this heat into the water or liquid source

Since the liquid source or ground water temperature stays relatively constant compared to the wide fluctuations of outdoor air temperatures from summer to winter. It provides an ideal heat transfer medium. In the cooling mode, the liquid or ground water not only removes heat from inside the building, but also carries away heat generated by the compressor motor. The compressor runs cooler, more efficiently, and lasts longer than conventional air conditioners.
